Hi, I'm Karen.

I am an innovative, seasoned media professional specializing in lifestyle, business, and general nonfiction collaborative writing and proposal development.  With more than 25 years of experience working in every aspect of book publishing, including editorial stints at literary agencies, book packagers, book clubs, and publishing houses, and as a published author and journalist, I have a deep understanding of the way the publishing business works. I know what publishers expect to see when a proposal crosses their desk or a manuscript comes due. I would like to share that knowledge with you.

Experience and Background

I am a generalist with a passion for business, lifestyle, culture, health, design, food, and fashion. Please see the Books page for information about my projects. 

Before becoming a full-time writer and journalist, I worked in book publishing as a marketer, editor, and publisher for a variety of publishing companies, including Meredith, Time Inc, and Rodale, acquiring, developing, editing, and publishing many cutting-edge titles. 

I am also a professional food writer and recipe developer. I have been a regular contributor to Natural Health magazine, and my food writing has also appeared in Prevention and Yoga Journal. 


General interest articles have also appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal. My business writing appears in several Financial Times Company business publications including Ignites, BoardIQ and Board Alert.

I have a BA in art history from the University of Massachusetts and an MFA from Columbia University.
